About ESOL Extras

ESOL Extras provides digital learning resources linked by theme & English language level level. Materials include text & audio files, worksheets, teaching notes & lesson suggestions. There are also learning activities (with answers) and extension materials.

These materials provide fun ways consolidating and expanding key language learning skills. They can be used to supplement a traditional textbook or scheme of work.

Using the materials

ESOL teachers are always looking for additional resource to A link to a Google Drive folder gives access to all the relevant files. Most are in Google Doc formats but can be downloaded as Word files, Powerpoints or PDFs. Audio files are typically MP3 & MP4 for use online or in the classroom.

Files are designed for flexible usage. For example, you can present a listening comprehension in the classroom and/or allow your students to link to it individually.

Resources are family friendly. Controversial subjects are generally avoided and there are parental warnings where content might be unsuitable for younger children.

Language Level

Materials are broadly divided into three  levels:

  • Easy Start (elementary to pre-intermediate)

  • Intermediate

  • Higher (upper intermediate to advanced)
